Prachanda, whose real name is Pushpa Kamal Dahal, is a prominent Nepalese politician and was the Prime Minister of Nepal twice. He played a key role in the country's Maoist movement and the armed conflict that took place from 1996 to 2006. He served as Prime Minister from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2016 to 2017. Nepal became a republic in 2008, ending its monarchy and establishing a federal democratic system.
